Pickering

Pickering is about 15 KM from the forest complex giving quick access for Friday and Saturday. This site:  http://www.pickering.uk.net/accommodation/pickering_hotels.php is worth checking for other potential places to stay.

Bed & breakfast accommodation is popular in this area and there are many examples listed on the ‘pickering.uk.net’ site which you could try.

The Forest & Vale hotel in Pickering can be recommended : http://www.bw-forestandvalehotel.co.uk/ as can the Crossways Hotel:  http://www.thecrosswayshotel.com/  and I’m told that the Beansheaf hotel http://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/beansheaf.en.html?aid=330631;label=hotel-33911-gb-NUwxXdPCt9b*69_48EFUSwe is also reasonable.

In previous years we have had good reports of The Hawthornes which is located half an hour from Scarborough, York, Whitby and right on the edge of Pickering. The Hawthornes has the added benefit of a large parking area suitable for support vehicles and trailers.  Paula and John tell us that their tariff is:
King Size Rooms - £35 Per Person Per Night (Double Occupancy)
Twin Room - £35 (Double Occupancy)
Single night £5 supplement, Single occupancy £5 supplement
Under 2's £5 per night, 2-12's £15, 12 and over full price.

All rooms are en-suite and two are situated on the ground floor. The price includes tea, scones and full English breakfast, using local produce.

East Ayton Lodge in the Forge Valley near Scarborough is worth a look.  A recent look at “bookings.com” showed that they had a double room for the Friday night of the rally at £65.00 including breakfast instead of the regular price of £95.00 so worth taking a look.

For those of you who are past sleeping in your cars in November, you may be interested in accommodation near the Kielder stages.  See here for general accommodation in the Kielder area or directly here for specific information on the Youth Hostel in Kielder Village.  Fellow enthusiast Geoff Pawson is a member of YHA has in the past persuaded the Kielder Hostel to open to Roger Albert Clark Rally spectators when normal YHA conditions and prices have applied.  Support this great organisation, have a warm bed to sleep in and enjoy both runs of cars through Kielder without it costing you a fortune!
